Opening of Proud and stately

New exhibition Proud and stately

The costume exhibition "Proud and stately" was created in collaboration with the population of Arendal, and is a gift to the people who live in the city in connection with the city's anniversary in 2023. Together with historical material from the museum's collection, we present a variety of costumes found in our international city.

It is the costumes themselves that are the focus of the exhibition. The costumes borrowed from the citizens of Arendal are presented together with a photo of the owner in the costume, and a text telling about where it comes from. The historical suits are presented with accompanying text about the garment's history. Smaller costume accessories of various kinds, such as shoes, hats and gloves, will also have their place in the exhibition. In addition, a film of Arendal people in different costumes will be shown, this in order to be able to show more costumes than there is room for physically in the exhibition space. "Proud and stately" opens in June.
